The Jungle Book

Rudyard Kipling (1865–1936) was an English author and poet, best known for his stories and poems set in British India. Born in Bombay (now Mumbai), he spent much of his early life in India, which deeply influenced his writing.

Kipling is famous for works such as The Jungle Book, featuring the character Mowgli, and the novel Kim. He also wrote well-known poems like “If—” and “The White Man’s Burden.” His writing often explored themes of adventure, empire, duty, and courage.

In 1907, Kipling became the first English-language writer to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature, recognizing his powerful storytelling and influence on literature. Although admired for his literary talent, his views on British imperialism have also sparked debate. Kipling remains one of the most significant and widely read writers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
